This process for this particular dress was done with a "bleach out" process. If you're not to sure about your crafty skills in the bleaching department..... why not use fabric paints?
Photo-copy a skeleton template, then blow it up to fit on the dress. Cut it out, pin it to the garment, then trace it with white chalk. Remove the template and fill in the design with white or orange fabric paint.
Let dry and wash according to package instructions.
I have a feeling you're going to be the hit of the party.....
